Eiko is a bright, cheerful woman with a lot of personal challenges, who has been a Christian for about 25 years.
One of her main challenges is her health. She has a rare lung condition that allows her the use of only a small portion of her lungs. The treatment has been high doses of steroids, and this causes a host of other problems as well. Recently, she has been diagnosed with a brain tumor behind her right ear, and is undergoing radiation treatment, as it is too close to her face muscles to operate without her face being distorted beyond recognition.
Because of her physical challenges, Eiko has never married. She lives in a large apartment complex by herself in Fukuoka city, and takes the train and bus about 70 minutes to church every Sunday. She makes ends meet by teaching for an after school tutoring classroom, but it doesn't provide near enough for her to eat well or purchase basic needs.
Pray that the Lord with sustain Eiko both physically and financially, and that she will be able to continue her ministry in the church teaching the kids Sunday school class. The doctor has told her that she may have a serious delayed reaction to the radiation in March. Pray that God will have mercy on her in this regard, and that she will be able to trust Him with the aprehension as the time approaches.
